Open-data first guarantee

Every input, every license, every attribution.

DebrisGuard runs on public data. No proprietary feeds, no black-box inputs, no NDAs you didn't sign. If a source ever becomes pay-walled, we say so on this page within 24 hours.

The promise: if you can't independently fetch and verify any detector input, the alert isn't allowed to fire. Every model in DebrisGuard is reproducible from the sources listed below.

Catalog & orbital state

Celestrak General Perturbations (GP) catalog required

License: Celestrak terms Refresh: hourly Format: 3LE / OMM JSON

Master public catalog of TLEs for ~30,000 active and inactive objects. Used as the canonical "what's up there" feed.

Space-Track GP & GP-history required

Provider: 18 SDS / USSPACECOM License: free with registered account Refresh: 6× daily

Authoritative US Space Force TLE feed plus historical GP records. Used to derive the manoeuvre signal (Δ MEAN_MOTION over consecutive epochs) and back-fill Sentinel-mode traces.

Space-Track SATCAT required

License: free, account required Refresh: daily

Object metadata: name, country, launch date, RCS class, current decay flag.

Re-entry & conjunction

Space-Track Decay Messages (TIP) required

License: free with account Refresh: hourly

Operator predictions for upcoming re-entries. Powers the Decay-Watch panel and the catalog-anomaly positive-set ground truth.

Space-Track Public Conjunction Data Messages (CDM) optional

License: free with account · best-effort upstream Refresh: daily

Foster-2D collision probabilities for conjunctions above the public-CDM threshold. The endpoint is known-flaky upstream; missing data is not allowed to suppress an alert from any other modality.

Radio frequency

RadioML 2018.01A required

Provider: DeepSig Inc. License: CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 Size: 18 GB

24-class modulation dataset with synthetic and over-the-air captures. Trains the rf-carrier 1-D CNN classifier; OOD score on low max-softmax flags unattributed RF emissions.

SatNOGS DB & observations optional

Provider: Libre Space Foundation License: CC BY-SA 4.0 Refresh: continuous

Community-operated radio observations of LEO satellites. Used to confirm RF presence/absence on watchlist objects.

Optical

SGP4-anchored synthetic frames derived

Built from: Space-Track TLEs + sgp4 propagator Refresh: rebuilt with each YOLO retrain

Star-field background + simulated streaks generated by propagating real TLEs at observatory geometry. Trains the YOLOv8n streak detector to ~0.95 mAP50.

Reference cutout patches (in-distribution) derived

Built from: synthetic streak crops Held-out split for evaluation

Patch-level "expected" snapshots that condition the ViT-B/16 Mahalanobis OOD detector.

Auxiliary metadata

DISCOSweb optional

Provider: ESA Space Debris Office License: free with API token

Physical properties (mass, area, shape, hard-body radius) used to refine collision-probability calculations. Gracefully absent — DebrisGuard falls back to a 5 m default HBR.

What we don't use

SourceWhy we exclude it
LeoLabs commercial conjunction feed Paywalled · would break the open-data guarantee
ExoAnalytic optical track-files Paywalled · selective NDA terms
NORAD high-accuracy SP-vectors Restricted access · only available to allied governments
Any "proprietary AI signal" Not reproducible by customers — not allowed to fire alerts
